Smart Array standup controller option

The server supports two Smart Array Gen10 standup plug-in controller options (type-p) per processor. For
more information on the controller cable compatible with these standup controllers, see Storage controller
cables on page 146.

Installing a Smart Array standup controller

Prerequisites
Before you perform this procedure, make sure that you have the following items available:
Smart Array standup controller option
If you are installing a Smart Array P-class 800 series Gen10 controller, make sure that the fan cage is
installed.
Compatible controller cable option
T-15 Torx screwdriver
Procedure
1.
Remove the front bezel on page 39.
2.
Power down the server on page 38.
3.
Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
4.
Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.
5.
Do one of the following:
Server in tower mode: Position the tower server for hardware configuration on page 41.
Server in rack mode: Extend the server from the rack on page 43.
6.
Remove the access panel on page 48.
7.
Remove the air baffle on page 50.
8.
If installed, remove the fan cage.
9.
Remove the PCI blank retainer on page 56.
10. Identify the expansion slot compatible with the option.
11. Remove the PCI slot blank on page 57.
12. If the storage controller option does not include a screw for installation, remove one of the preinstalled
PCI board screw.
13. Install the standup storage controller.
