Check if the expansion board option requires the fan cage, see Expansion board thermal requirement
on page 124.
When installing a GPU option, review the GPU installation requirements on page 124.
Make sure that you have the following items available:
Expansion board option kit
Internal and external cabling required by the expansion board
T-15 Torx screwdriver
Procedure
1.
Remove the front bezel on page 39.
2.
Power down the server on page 38.
3.
Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
4.
Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.
5.
Do one of the following:
Server in tower mode: Position the tower server for hardware configuration on page 41.
Server in rack mode: Extend the server from the rack on page 43.
6.
Remove the access panel on page 48.
7.
Remove the air baffle on page 50.
8.
Optional: If installed, remove the fan cage.
This step is only required if the expansion board cabling needs to be routed through the front cable
channel.
9.
Remove the PCI blank retainer on page 56.
10. Identify the expansion slot compatible with the option.
11. Remove the PCI slot blank on page 57.
If you are installing a double-width expansion board, remove two PCI slot blanks.
12. If the expansion board option does not include a screw for installation, remove one of the preinstalled
PCI board screw.
13. Make sure that any switches or jumpers on the expansion board are set properly.
