EVAP control canister vent shut
valve
test.
(The continuation of OTC P1456
troubleshooting.)
Check the EVAP control canister
vent shut valve:
1. Disconnect
the vacuum
hose
from the EVAP
three way valve,
and
connect a vacuum
pump
to
the
hose.
2.
Turn the ignition
switch ON
(JI).
3.
Apply vacuum
to
the
hose.

Does the
valve
hold
vacuum?
./
YES
Check the
EVAP
control canister
vent shut valve:
1.
Turn the
ignitio
n
switch OFF.
2.
Disco
nnect
the
EVAP
control
canister
vent shut
valve 2P
connector.
3.
Check for continuity between
the EVAP
control canister
vent
shut valve
2P
connector termi·
nal NO.1 and body
ground.

NO
Is there
continuity?
./
YES
Check
for
a short in the wire
IVSVline):
1.
Disconnect
the
ECM
/
PCM
connector
A (32P).
2.
Check
for
continuity
between
the EVAP
control canister
vent
shut
va
lve
2P connector termi·
nal No.1 and body
ground.

YES
Is there
continuity?
./
NO
Substitute a known-good ECMI
PCM and
recheck.
" symptom!
Indication goes away,
replace
the original
ECM/PCM.

connections
test (see

Replace the eVAP controt canister
vent
shut
valve and O-ring.
Repair short in the wire between

ECM/PCM

control canister vent shut valve.
