EVAP Two Way Valve Test

R e m o v e t h e f u e l f i l l c a p .
Disconnect the vapor line from the EVAP two way
valve (A). Connect it to a TJitting (B) from the
v a c u u m g a u g e a n d t h e v a c u u m p u m p a s s h o w n .
3. Apply vacuum slowly and continuously while
watching the gauge.
The vacuum should stabilize momentarily at 0.8
2 . 1 k P a { 6 - 1 6 m m H g , 0 . 2
0 . 6 i n . H g ) .
lf the vacuum stabilizes (valve opens) below 0.8 kPa
( 6 m m H g , 0 . 2 i n . H g ) o r a b o v e 2 . 1 k P a { 1 6 m m H g .
0.6 in.Hg), install a new valve and retest.
4. Move the vacuum pump hose from the vacuum
fitting to the pressure fitting, and move the vacuum
gauge hose from the vacuum side to the pressure
side (A) as shown.

5. Slowly pressurize the vapor line while watching the
gauge. The pressure should stabilize momentarily
a b o v e 1 . 0 k P a ( 8 m m H g , 0 . 3 i n . H g ) .
. lf the pressure momentarily stabilizes (valve
o p e n s ) a b o v e 1 . 0 k P a ( 8 m m H g , 0 . 3 i n . H g ) , t h e
valve is OK.
. lf the pressure stabilizes below 1.0 kPa (8 mmHg,
0.3 in.Hg), install a new valve and retest.
