Fuel Line/Ouick-Connect Fittings
Precautions
The fuel tube/qulck-connect fittings assembly connects
the in-tank fuel DumD to the fuel feed line and the fuel
r e t u r n l i n e . W h e n r e m o v i n g o r i n s t a l l i n g t h e f u e l p u m p
and fuel tank, it is necessary to disconnect or connect
the quick-connect f ittings.
Pay attention to the following:
. Thefuel tubes{A) and quick-connect fittings (B) are
not heat-resistanU be careful not to damage them
during welding or other heat-generating procedures.
. The fueltubes and quick-connect fittings are not
acid-proof; do not touch it with a shop towel which
was used for wiping baftery electrolyte. Replace them
if they came into contact with electrolyte or
s o m e t h i n g s i m i l a r .
. When connecting or disconnecting the fueltubes and
quick-connect fittings, be careful not to bend or twist
them excessively. Replace them them damaged.
A disconnected quick-connect fittings can be
reconnected, but the retainer on the mating line cannot
be reused once it has been removed from the line.
Replace the retainer when
. replacing the fuel pump.
. r e p l a c i n g t h e f u e l f i l t e r .
. r e p l a c i n g t h e f u e l f e e d l i n e .
. replacing the fuel return line.
. it has been removed from the line.
. it is damaged.

Removal
1 . R e l i e v e f u e l p r e s s u r e ( s e e p a g e 1 1 - 1 0 5 ) .
Check the fuel quick-connect fittings for dirt, and
clean if necessary.
H o l d t h e c o n n e c t o r { A ) w i t h o n e h a n d , a n d s q u e e z e
the retainer tabs {B) with the other hand to release
t h e m f r o m t h e l o c k i n g p a w l s ( C ) . P u l l t h e c o n n e c t o r
off.
NOTE:
. Be careful not to damage the line (D) or other
parts. Do not use tools.
. lf the connector does not move, keep the retainer
tabs pressed down, and alternately pull and push
the connector until it comes off easily.
. Do not remove the retainer from the line; once
removed, the retainer must be replaced with a
new one.
