a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
a Remove:
- the front left-hand wheel (see 35A, Wheels and ty-
res, Wheel: Removal - Refitting, page 35A-1) ,
- the front bumper (see Front bumper: Removal -
Refitting) (55A, Exterior protection),
- the front left-hand wheel arch liner (see Front
wheel arch liner: Removal - Refitting) (55A, Ex-
terior protection),
- the power-assisted steering pump assembly
mountings.
a Fit a hose clamp on the flexible pipe of the power-as-
sisted steering pump assembly.
a
Note:
Prepare for oil escaping from the power-assisted
steering system.
a Remove the bolt mounting the high pressure pipe
union on the power-assisted steering pump assem-
bly.
a Disconnect the high pressure pipe on the power-as-
sisted steering pump assembly.
a Fit thebetween the power-assisted steering pump
assembly and the power-assisted steering pump as-
sembly outlet high pressure pipe union.
a Refit the high pressure pipe union mounting bolt and
of theto the power-assisted steering pump assem-
bly.
a Torque tighten the bolt mounting the high pres-
sure pipe union on the power-assisted steering
pump assembly (25 N.m).
a Connect the pressure gauge of theto theusing union
"C".
a Remove the hose clamp.
a Lower the vehicle.
a Fill up the power assisted steering oil circuit (type:
ELF RENAULTMATIC D2).

a Bleed the circuit by turning the steering wheel from
lock to lock with the engine switched off at first.
a Bleed the circuit by turning the steering wheel from
lock to lock with the engine running.
25 N.m
a Fill the oil to the correct level in the reservoir (if nec-
essary).
a Check the pressure of the power-assisted steering
pump assembly with the steering wheel at full lock:
the maximum value should be 90 bar.
a Switch off the engine.
a Raise the vehicle.
a Fit a hose clamp on the flexible pipe of the power-as-
sisted steering pump assembly.
a
Note:
Be sure to replace the O-rings removed from the
power-assisted steering unions.
a Remove:
- the pressure gauge of theand its union "C",
- the mounting bolt of theand of the high pressure
pipe union on the power-assisted steering pump
assembly.
a Reconnect the high pressure pipe union to the pow-
er-assisted steering pump assembly.
a Refit the high pressure pipe union mounting bolt to
the power assisted steering pump assembly.
a Torque tighten the bolt mounting the high pres-
sure pipe union on the power-assisted steering
pump assembly (25 N.m).
a Remove the hose clamp.
a Fill up the power assisted steering oil circuit (type:
ELF RENAULTMATIC D2).
a Bleed the circuit by turning the steering wheel from
lock to lock with the engine switched off at first.
a Bleed the circuit by turning the steering wheel from
lock to lock with the engine running.
a Fill the oil to the correct level in the reservoir (if nec-
essary).
a Check that there are no leaks.
a Refit:
- the power-assisted steering pump assembly
