Shift ranges
When the selector lever is in position D,
you can restrict or derestrict the shift
range for the automatic transmission.
Press the selector lever briefly to the
right towards D+ or to the left towards
D–.
The shift range selected appears in the
instrument cluster display. The auto-
matic transmission only shifts as far as
the gear concerned.
i
The transmission shifts up, even if the shift
range has been restricted, if the maximum en-
gine speed for the shift range is reached and you
continue to accelerate. The engine could other-
wise overrev.
!
If the transfer case is in the LOW off-road
driving position, the automatic transmission will
not shift up automatically when it reaches the
engine speed limit for that range. There is then a
danger of engine damage. It must be ensured that
the permissible engine speed is not exceeded.
