Risk of accident
Only use wheel bolts/nuts that are suitable
for the wheel and the vehicle. For safety rea-
sons, Mercedes-Benz recommends that you
only use wheel bolts/nuts which have been
approved for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Other
bolts/nuts could come loose.
Do not tighten the wheel bolts/nuts fully
while the vehicle is raised. The vehicle could
tip.
Lowering the vehicle
Open the lowering screw of the jack by
about one turn using the pump lever
( page 208).
Put the jack to one side.

Risk of accident
Have the tightening torque checked as soon
as possible following a wheel change. The
wheels could become loose if they are not
tightened with a tightening torque of
180 Nm for steel rims, 130 Nm for alumin-
ium rims with wheel bolts and 150 Nm for
aluminium rims with wheel nuts.

Press the jack piston back in and tight-
en the jack lowering screw. Stow away
the jack and the remaining vehicle

After changing the wheel, secure the
defective wheel on the spare wheel
bracket ( page 173). Make sure that
the wheel cannot work loose.
Cover the wheel with the spare wheel
cover provided.
Check the tyre pressures and correct
them if necessary.
You will find a table of tyre pressures
for your vehicle in the "Technical data"
