Problem
2 The yellow brake pad
wear indicator is lit while
the engine is running.
1 The red SRS warning
lamp does not light up
when the key is in posi-
tion 2, flickers or lights
up while the engine is
running.
^ The red engine diagnos-
tic warning lamp is lit
while the engine is run-
ning.

Possible cause/
consequence
The brake pads have reached
their wear limits.

Risk of injury
The restraint systems have mal-
functioned. The airbag could be
triggered unexpectedly or it
might not trigger at all in an ac-
cident.
There may be a malfunction:
in the diesel injection sys-
tem
in the exhaust system
Emissions may have exceeded
permissible limits and the en-
gine may be running in emer-
gency mode.
The fuel tank has run dry.

Suggested solutions
Have the brake pads replaced as soon as possible at a quali-
fied specialist workshop.
Visit a qualified specialist workshop immediately.
Have the vehicle checked as soon as possible at a qualified
specialist workshop.
Start the engine three to four times after refuelling.
Emergency running mode is cancelled. You do not need to
have your vehicle checked.
