G
Risk of accident
Mobile phones and two-way radios could in-
terfere with the vehicle's electronic sys-
tems, and therefore impair the operational
safety of your vehicle and endanger you and
others, if:
you do not have an exterior aerial
the exterior aerial is not fitted in such a
way as to be low-reflection
the exterior aerial is incorrectly fitted
G
Risk of injury
Excessive levels of electromagnetic radia-
tion could also damage your health and that
of others. The possible risks to health
caused by electromagnetic fields as dis-
cussed in the scientific community are
avoided through the use of an external aerial.
Always have the exterior aerial fitted at a
qualified specialist workshop which has the
necessary specialist knowledge and tools to
carry out the work required. Mercedes-Benz
recommends that you use a Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre for this purpose. In particu-
lar, work relevant to safety or on safety-re-
lated systems must be carried out at a
qualified specialist workshop.
i
To ensure optimal reception quality of mo-
bile telephones and two-way radios in the vehi-
cle, as well as to minimise the mutual influence
of vehicle electronics and mobile telephones and
two-way radios, Mercedes-Benz recommends
the use of an approved exterior aerial. A con-
nected exterior aerial conducts the electromag-
netic fields radiated by the mobile telephone to
the outside and the field strength in the interior
of the vehicle drops in comparison to operation
without an exterior aerial.

If you use electrical or electronic equipment
in the vehicle that does not fulfil these condi-
tions, the vehicle could lose its general operating
permit (EU Directive 95/54/EC – Electromag-
netic Compatibility of Vehicles).
Only operate electrical equipment via a
separate wiring harness connection point.
The vehicle electronics may otherwise be
affected. You may obtain further informa-
tion about the wiring harness connection
point from any Mercedes-Benz Service
Centre.
