Charging the battery
G
Risk of injury
Never charge the battery when it is fitted in
the vehicle unless you are using a battery
charger which has been tested and ap-
proved by Mercedes-Benz. These battery
chargers allow charging when the battery is
fitted. The vehicle electronics may other-
wise be damaged. Only charge the battery in
well-ventilated spaces. As the battery is be-
ing charged, gases can escape and generate
minor explosions. These can injure you and
others and may cause damage to the paint-
work or acid corrosion on the vehicle.
Information about battery chargers which al-
low charging when the battery is fitted can
be obtained from a qualified specialist work-
shop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
G

There is a risk of acid burns during the
charging process due to the gases which es-
cape from the battery. Do not lean over the
battery while it is being charged.

Only use battery chargers with a maximum
charging voltage of 14.8V.
Have the battery charged at a qualified
specialist workshop. Mercedes-Benz rec-
ommends that you use a Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre for this purpose. If you
charge the battery yourself, follow the
operating instructions for your battery
charger.
