Occupant safety
SRS (Supplemental Restraint
System)
SRS comprises:
1 warning lamp
Airbag system with airbag control unit
and airbag
1 warning lamp
The 1 warning lamp in the instrument
cluster lights up:
for approximately four seconds when
you turn the key to position 2 in the ig-
nition lock
This indicates that the restraint sys-
tems are fully operational.
The 1 restraint system warning lamp
goes out:
when the key has been in position 2 for
approximately four seconds
when you start the engine

Risk of injury
There is a malfunction if the 1 warning
lamp:
does not light up when you turn the key
to position 2 in the ignition lock
does not go out after the engine has
been running for a few seconds
lights up again
Individual systems could be triggered unin-
tentionally or not be triggered at all in the
event of an accident with a high rate of vehi-
cle deceleration. In this case, have the SRS
checked and repaired immediately at a qual-
ified specialist workshop which has the nec-
essary specialist knowledge and tools to
carry out the work required.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre for this pur-
pose. In particular, work relevant to safety
or on safety-related systems must be car-
ried out at a qualified specialist workshop.

Airbag system

Risk of injury
The service life of an airbag is limited to
15 years. Have the airbag replaced after no
more than 15 years at a qualified specialist
workshop which has the necessary special-
ist knowledge and tools to carry out the
work required. Mercedes-Benz recommends
that you use a Mercedes-Benz Service Cen-
tre for this purpose.
In particular, work relevant to safety or on
safety-related systems must be carried out
at a qualified specialist workshop.
