Driving tips
Wet road surfaces
The first time the brakes are applied after
a long period of driving in heavy rain with-
out braking it is possible that:
there will be a delayed braking re-
sponse
you will need to depress the brake ped-
al more firmly
You should therefore maintain a greater
distance from the vehicle in front.
After driving on wet roads, brake the vehi-
cle so that the effect can be felt. The brake
discs will be warmed, dry more quickly and
be protected against corrosion.

Limited braking effect on salted roads
Please note that the effectiveness of the
brakes may be limited on salted roads. A
layer of salt can form on the brake discs
and brake pads, severely reducing the co-
efficient of friction between the brake
discs and brake pads. This effect occurs
mainly after lengthy journeys without the
brakes being applied, e.g. on motorways,
and after the vehicle has been left parked
for several hours.

Risk of accident
The salt layer on the brake discs and brake
pads increases the risk of the braking effect
setting in late, which will significantly in-
crease the braking distance so that you
could cause an accident.
To avoid this danger, you should:
Carefully apply the brakes from time to
time to remove any salt that may have
formed on the brake discs and brake
pads, taking care not to endanger other
road users
Maintain a safe distance to the vehicle
ahead and adopt a forward-looking driv-
ing style
Carefully apply the brakes at the end of
the journey and again when you start
the next journey to remove any last res-
idue of salt from the brake discs
