Risk of accident
Do not remove the key from the ignition lock
until the vehicle has come to a standstill, as
you are not able to steer the vehicle when
the key has been removed.
Make sure that the transfer case is not in
shift position N.
Never leave children unsupervised in the
vehicle. They could release the handbrake.
This could lead to a serious or fatal accident.

Risk of fire
Make sure that the exhaust system never
comes into contact with highly flammable
substances, e.g. dry grass or petrol. The ma-
terial could otherwise ignite and set the ve-
hicle alight.

To apply: pull handbrake 2 firmly up-
wards.
If the ignition is switched on, the !
indicator lamp lights up in the instru-
ment cluster.

On steep slopes, turn the front wheels to-
wards the kerb.

To release: depress the brake pedal
and keep it depressed.
Pull handbrake 2 firmly up, press re-
lease button 1 and guide handbrake
2 fully down.
The vehicle can move immediately.
The ! indicator lamp in the instru-
ment cluster goes out.

A warning signal sounds if you pull away with
the handbrake applied.
