Child restraint systems
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you only
use the child restraint systems listed on
( page 41).

Risk of injury
To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injuries
to children in the event of an accident, sharp
braking or sudden change in direction:
Always secure children less than 1.50 m
tall or under twelve years of age in spe-
cial child restraint systems installed on
a suitable seat in the vehicle, as the seat
belts are not designed for children of
this size.
On no account should children travel
sitting on the lap of another occupant.
Children cannot be restrained in the
event of an accident, sharp braking or
sudden change of direction due to the
forces which occur. They would be
thrown against parts of the vehicle inte-
rior and be seriously or even fatally in-
jured.
Vehicle occupants must wear their seat
belt correctly at all times.

Risk of injury
If the child restraint system is not correctly
installed on a suitable seat in the vehicle,
the child cannot be restrained in the event
of an accident or sudden braking and may
be seriously or even fatally injured.
For this reason, when fitting the child re-
straint system always comply with the in-
stallation instructions issued by the child
restraint system manufacturer.
It is advisable to fit the child restraint sys-
tem to one of the rear seats. The child is
generally better protected there.
Never place objects (such as a cushion) un-
der the child restraint system. The entire
base of the child restraint system must al-
ways be in contact with the vehicle seat
cushion.

Occupant safety
An incorrectly fitted child restraint system
cannot perform its protective function in the
event of an accident, and could even cause
injuries.
Child restraint systems must not be used
without their original cover. Only replace
damaged covers with genuine covers.
On the rear seats you should only use child
restraint systems which have been ap-
proved for use in Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
