Apply the handbrake or move the se-
lector lever to P.
Switch all electrical consumers off.
Turn the key to position 0 and remove
it.
Open the bonnet.

Example: 60 Ah starter batteries
1 Positive terminal
2 Negative terminal
3 Lead
4 Vent connection
Use the 10 mm open-end spanner from
the vehicle tool kit to loosen negative
terminal clamp 2 and then remove it.
The terminal clamp must not come into
contact with the terminal.
Remove the positive terminal cover.
Loosen positive terminal clamp 1 and
then remove it.
Detach connecting cable 3.
Pull vent connections 4 from the bat-
teries.

It is best to have the battery removed at a
qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.

1 Securing screws
Unscrew all securing screws 1 and re-
move the battery cover.
