Heating and air-conditioning system*
Demisting
Use the following settings to demist the
windscreen, e.g. when it is covered in ice.
Make sure that air-recirculation mode
is switched off so that outside air can
be taken into the vehicle.
Turn the thumbwheel on the centre air
vent down as far as possible.
Move the slider on the side vent to the
centre.
Press the upper section of the blower
switch twice.
The switch is set to ventilation level II.
Slide the air-distribution control to the
right as far as possible.
Turn the temperature controller fully
clockwise to the red dot.

Only select this setting until the windscreen
is clear again.

Misted-up windows
If the blower is switched off and air-recir-
culation mode is switched on, the vehicle
interior will no longer be ventilated and the
windows may mist up.
Make sure that air-recirculation mode
is switched off so that outside air can
be taken into the vehicle.
Press the upper section of the blower
switch twice.
The switch is set to ventilation level II.
Slide the air-distribution control to the
right.
Turn the thumbwheel on the centre air
vent down as far as possible.
Direct the side vents towards the side
window.
Slide the temperature controller to the
right.

If necessary, switch on the windscreen wip-
ers ( page 73) if the windows are misted up on
the outside.
Only select this setting until the windscreen is
clear again.
Air-recirculation mode
If there are unpleasant odours in the air
outside, it is possible to temporarily switch
off the supply of fresh air. Fresh air is then
no longer taken in, and the air in the vehi-
cle is recirculated.

Risk of accident
At low outside temperatures, only switch to
air-recirculation mode for a brief period. The
windows could otherwise mist up, thus im-
pairing visibility and endangering you and
others. You may no longer be able to ob-
serve the traffic conditions and could cause
an accident.
