Connect positive terminals 3 of the
batteries with jump leads 4. Start with
the second battery.
Run the donor vehicle's engine at idling
speed.
Connect negative terminals 2 of the
batteries with jump leads 1. Start with
the second battery.
Switch on the battery master switch
( page 54).

If all the vehicle batteries are discharged,
you must press the emergency start button when
starting and continue to hold it for approximately
five seconds once the vehicle has started.
Start the engine.
You can now switch the electrical con-
sumers back on, but do not switch on
the lights.
First disconnect the jump lead from
negative terminals 2 of the batteries,
and then from positive terminals 3.
Have the starter batteries checked at a
qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.

To start the vehicle using jump-starting
socket 2, both vehicles must be equipped with
a jump-starting socket. A special jump-starting
cable is required.
