OPTI-6100 Installation and Turn-Up Practice
To connect a terminal or a PC terminal emulation to the craft port, complete the following steps:
1. Set the parameters of the VT100 terminal to the following:
9600 baud
♦
8 data bits
♦
No parity
♦
No flow control
♦
1 stop bit
♦
2. Select a cable and connection:
Connect a VT100 terminal set for Parallel (not Serial), or a PC emulating a VT100

terminal set for direct connect (not dial-up), to the Craft port.
When using the rear panel Admin port, use a null modem cable or a Y-cable (refer to

Table 8
on page 50) with a male DB-25 connector on the OPTI-6100 end.
NOTE
The Admin port has a default baud rate of 9600 baud.
When using the front Craft port, use a serial cable with a male DB-9 connector on the

OPTI-6100 end.
3. Plug the male end of the data cable into the OPTI-6100 chassis. Make the connection to the
VT100 terminal as appropriate for the equipment.
4. Press any key to log on to the OPTI-6100.

All account names and passwords can be provisioned to be case-
sensitive, for additional security. The default account names are
ADMIN, READONLY, and READWRITE. The default password for
each of these accounts is
required to change passwords, account names, and privileges.
5. In the Account Name field, enter a valid Account Name for the OPTI-6100, and press
