Power Considerations: SMX Chassis
Use the following wiring specifications for applications including the SMX chassis.
1184514L1
Power Wiring and Fusing
Wiring and fusing should conform to the following:
–48 VDC input and return connections should be provided from the fuse panel using
♦
insulated 14 to 16 AWG wire (16 AWG recommended) for 5 amp fuses.
±24 VDC input and return connections should be provided from the fuse panel using
♦
insulated 14 to 18 AWG wire (16 AWG recommended) for 10 amp fuses.
CAUTION
!
Applications requiring the OMM48 (P/N 1184548L1) cannot be
supplied with ±24 VDC power. The OMM48 only supports –48 VDC.
Separate wires should be run from the fuse panel for each input and return.
♦
Power wire with red insulation is recommended for the input feeds.
♦
Power wire with black insulation is recommended for the return feeds.
♦
If the SMX chassis is to be equipped with a fan assembly, then separate –48 VDC or ±24
♦
VDC power wiring is required for the fan unit.
A fan assembly should be dual-feed powered from different sources than the chassis, using
♦
16 AWG wire from the fuse panel. Follow the same color scheme used to wire the chassis.
The fan assembly (SFANM) should be furnished with a separate 0.5 amp fuse for –48 VDC
♦
or a 1.0 amp fuse for ±24 VDC on each power feed.
