Fan Assembly Installation

When specified by the site engineer, a fan assembly may be required for system cooling. Also,
certain applications or equipment may require additional cooling.
The fan installation procedures are grouped by chassis, as follows:

"Using a Fan with the MX Chassis"

"Using a Fan with the SMX Chassis"
"Using a Fan with the LMX Chassis"
Using a Fan with the MX Chassis
There are three fan assemblies available for the MX chassis:
Fan Assembly (FANM; P/N 1184507L1)
Enhanced Fan Assembly (EFANM; P/N 1184507L2)
High-Capacity Fan Assembly (HFANM; P/N 1184537L1)

Each fan assembly used with the MX chassis is powered from the rack fuse and alarm panel,
and consists of three components:
The fan module
The base assembly
The fan filter
The FANM and EFANM each house a replaceable filter for clean airflow. The HFANM does not
house a filter. Instead, the required filter is housed in the Heat Baffle (P/N 1184538L1).
