Transmux Module Installation

Use this Installation and Turn-Up procedure for the following modules:
TRAM (P/N 1184512L1)

TRAM3 (P/N 1184532L1,

The TRAM module maps/demaps 28×VT1.5 (STS-1) to/from 28×DS1 (DS3).
The TRAM3 module maps/demaps 84×VT1.5 (3×STS-1 or 1×STS-3c) to/from 84×DS1 (3×DS3
or 3×EC1).
Transmux modules plug directly into MS slots designated for DS3 service, identified as follows:
MX or SMX chassis: Slots labeled

LMX chassis: Slots labeled

For redundant operation, the slot pairs/groups are as follows:
MX chassis: Slots 1&2, 5&6, 7&8, and 11&12
♦
SMX chassis: Slots 1&2 and 3&4
♦
LMX chassis: Slots 1–5, 8–12, 13–17, and 20–24
♦
NOTE
The TRAM module is only supported on the MX and SMX chassis.
The TRAM3 is supported on all OPTI-6100 chassis.
