Using a Fan with the SMX Chassis

There are two fan assemblies available for the SMX chassis:
SMX Fan Assembly (SFANM; P/N 1184550L1)

SMX High-Capacity Fan Assembly (SHFANM; P/N 1184550G2)

STATUS
Both of the SMX fan assemblies install below an SMX chassis and are powered from the rack
fuse and alarm panel. Both of these fan assemblies include 16 additional environmental alarm
inputs and consist of three components:
The fan module

The base assembly
♦
The fan filter
♦
The SHFANM Assembly is a higher-power fan module, with increased cooling capacity for use
in OC-48 applications. The SFANM includes two fans. The SHFANM includes four fans.
Table 4 lists the SMX mounting configurations which support the installation of these fan
assemblies.
