OPTI-6100 Installation and Turn-Up Practice

SCM INSTALLATION

The SCM is the focal point for all management functions carried out by the chassis and has the
greatest number of considerations when installing. The individual steps in this practice detail
these considerations for a successful and trouble-free OPTI-6100 installation.
NOTICE
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) can damage electronic modules.
Before handling modules, wear an antistatic discharge wrist strap
to prevent damage to electronic components. Place modules in
antistatic packing material when transporting or storing. When
working on modules, always place them on an approved antistatic
mat that is electrically grounded.
After unpacking the SCM, inspect it for damage. If damage has occurred, file a claim with the
carrier then contact ADTRAN Customer Support. Refer to
information. If possible, keep the original shipping container for returning the SCM for repair
or for verification of shipping damage.

Installing the SCM

After unpacking the SCM, inspect it for damage. If damage has occurred, file a claim with the
carrier then contact ADTRAN Customer Support. Refer to
information. If possible, keep the original shipping container for returning the SCM for repair
or for verification of shipping damage.
NOTICE
The SCM can only be inserted into the slot labeled
SCM in any other slot can damage the module and backplane.
