OPTI-6100 Installation and Turn-Up Practice

Mount the Chassis

The OPTI-6100 chassis comes with mounting brackets that can be mounted with the flanges
facing forward or backward in two different locations on the chassis sides. Therefore, the
chassis can be flush-mounted or mid-mounted.
Attaching the mounting brackets to the chassis requires four screws on each side. The screws
are supplied with the unit.
The mounting brackets can be used for 19-inch or 23-inch relay racks. The narrow side should
be screwed to the chassis for a 23-inch rack. The wide side should be screwed to the chassis for
a 19-inch rack.
Flush-mounting: For flush-mounting on the rack, use a phillips-head screwdriver and
attach the mounting brackets with the flanges facing rearward on the rear mounting holes.
Mid-mounting: For mid-mounting, use a phillips-head screwdriver and attach the mounting
brackets with the flanges facing forward on the front mounting holes.
After attaching the mounting brackets to the OPTI-6100 chassis sides, use the appropriate
screws for the CO rack type and mount the chassis in the rack.
Flush-mounting: For flush-mount systems, the OPTI-6100 chassis must be mounted from
the rear of the rack, with mounting bracket flanges facing rearward.
Mid-mounting: For mid-mount systems, the OPTI-6100 chassis must be mounted from the
front of the rack, with the mounting bracket flanges facing forward.
Other orientations: Other orientations require either mounting from the front or rear, and
depend on the rack type installed in the CO or Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) and the
standard operating procedures established by the CO or MTU location.
Using screws appropriate for the CO or MTU rack or Remote Terminal (RT) cabinet, and an
appropriate screwdriver, secure the OPTI-6100 chassis in place on the rack.
