Translation

This mode supports EVPL by translating the VLAN tags in the received Ethernet frames into
values used by the service provider. Six translations plus the tagging of untagged frames is
supported per port. This mode allows the mapping of different customer VLAN IDs on a single
port to different uplink VCGs and service provider tags. The tags are translated from the service
provider tag values to the customer tag values in the VCG to Ethernet port direction. Service
provider VLAN tags have a normal 0×8100 TYPE field.
Provisioning options affected by this mode are as follows:
Customer Tag: The customer VLAN ID value for this translation. This ID must be unique
per port. The default is 1-6 plus NA per port. The range is 0-4093.
Uplink Tag: The service provider VLAN ID value for this translation. This ID must be unique
per VCG uplink. Values are reserved even for Inactive translations, so if the service provider
want to use a value that is a default for another port's translation then the service provider
must first change the default mapping value of the other port. The default is X1–X7 where
X is the port number. The range is 0-4093.
Uplink: The VCG/uplink to which this translation is mapped. The default is 1.
Peak Rate: The maximum supported rate/EIR allowed from the customer port, limited by
the provisioned/mapped VCG size and rounded up to the nearest 64 kbps increment. The
default is 0 kbps.
Burst Size: EBS in kilobits, for the Peak Rate. The recommended setting is the maximum,
4194 kb, unless the service provider wants a smaller EBS supported. Burst size is rounded
up to the nearest supported burst size. The default is 64 kb.
