Power Considerations: LMX Chassis

Use the following specifications for applications including the LMX chassis.
CAUTION
!
Unlike the MX and SMX chassis, the LMX chassis does not support
±24 VDC power. Only –48 VDC is supported on the LMX.

Power Wiring and Fusing

Wiring and fusing should conform to the following:
–48 VDC input and return connections should be provided from the fuse panel using
insulated 10 to 12 AWG wire for 35 amp fuses. Up to 45A fuses can be used, as necessary.
12 AWG wire is recommended for distances less than 6 feet.
10 AWG wire is recommended for distances greater than 6 feet.
Separate wires should be run from the fuse panel for each input and return.
Power wire with red insulation is recommended for the feeds.
Power wire with black insulation is recommended for the return feeds.
NOTE
The LMX chassis includes an integrated fan module (LFANM). This
module does not require separate power wiring or fusing.

Frame Ground

Each LMX chassis requires a frame ground connection using 8–10 AWG wire (8 AWG recom-
mended) or in accordance with standard company requirements. Run separate ground wires
from the rack or grounding bar for each chassis. Wire with green insulation is recommended,
to distinguish the frame ground from other power connections. Up to 6 AWG wire can be
accommodated with the appropriate lug. Lugs must be tightened to a torque of 2 foot-pounds
(24 inch-pounds).
