Brake System Indicator Circuit Troubleshooting
Brake system indicator does not come on
1. Disconnect the multiplex control unit 13P connector
and the ASS control unit 31 P connector.
2. Check for continuity between the ASS control unit
31Pconnectorterminal No. 21 and body ground.

Wire side of female terminals
Is there continuity?
YES-Repair short to body ground in the wire
between the multiplex control unit and the ASS
control unit..
NO-Go to multiplex control system
troubleshooting (see page 22-1721 .•
Brake system indicator does not go off
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Release the parking brake.
Does the brake system indicator go off after
several seconds?
YES- The system is OK at this time .•
NO-Go to step 3.
3. Check the brake fluid level.
Is the level OK?
YES-Go to step 4.
NO-Refill the brake fluid, and recheck .•
4. Check the ASS indicator.
Does the ABS indicator stay on?
YES-Read the ASS DTC (see step 1 on page 19-321.
and do the applicable troubleshooting for the DTC.
NO-Go to step 5.
5. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
6. Disconnect the ASS control unit 31 P connector.
7. Connect the ABS control unit 31 P connector
terminal No. 21 and body ground with a jumper
wire.
