PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND
TUNE-UP PROCEDURES

COOLING SYSTEM

Inspect at initially 1.000 km (or 4 months)
and every 4.000 km (or 8 months). Change
coolant every 2 years.
CHANGE THE COOLANT
Remove driving and passenger seats.
Disassemble the fuel tank.
Remove the right and left side fairings.
Remove radiator cap 010.
Remove radiator and lower cylinder manifolds
020.
Remove drain plugs
linders.
CAUTION:
The cylinder drain plugs must be removed when
replacing the coolant.
Drain plug: 8 – 12 Nm (0,8 – 1,2 kgm)
WARNING:
Do not open the radiator cap when the engine is
hot, as you may be injured by escaping hot liquid
or vapor.
WARNING:
Coolant may be harmful if swallowed or if it
comes into contact with skin or eyes. If coolant
gets into the eyes or contact with the skin, it
should be soaked thoroughly with plenty of wa-
ter. If swallowed, induce vomiting and call physi-
cian immediately!
Flush the radiator with clean water.
Reassemble radiator and lower cylinder ma-
nifolds 020 and tighten clamps securely. Reas-
semble plugs 030
Pour the specified coolant up to the radiator in-
let hole.
Loosen the air bleeder bolt 050,
pump and for radiator to expel air.
Attempt to tip the motorcycle to the right side
to let the trapped air go out.
Tighten the bleeder bolts when air has been
bled and coolant comes out.
Radiator expel bolt tightening torque:
2 – 3 Nm (0,2 – 0,3 kgm)
Water pump expel bolt tightening torque:
8 – 12 Nm (0,8 – 1,2 kg)

SISTEMA DE REFRIGERACION
Verificar después de los 1.000 kms (o 4 me-
ses) y sucesivamente cada 4.000 kms (o 8
meses). Substituir el líquido de refrigera-
ción cada 2 años.
SUBSTITUCION DEL LIQUIDO DE
REFRIGERACION
Sacar el sillín del piloto y del pasajero.
Desmontar el depósito del combustible.
Sacar el carenado lateral derecho e izquierdo.
Sacar el tapón 010
Sacar los manguitos
lindro inferior.
Extraer los tapones de vaciado
dros derecho e izquierdo.
ADVERTENCIA:
Los tapones de vaciado de los cilindros tienen que
sacarse cuando se substituye el líquido de refrige-
ración.
Tapones de vaciado: 8 – 12 Nm (0,8 – 1,2 kgm)
ATENCION:
No abrir el tapón del radiador con el motor calien-
te; el líquido caliente o el vapor, al salir pueden
causar quemaduras.
ATENCION:
El líquido de refrigeración puede ser nocivo si se
traga, o si toca la piel o los ojos. Si el líquido toca
la piel o los ojos, aclarar con agua abundante.
Si se traga, provocar el vómito y consultar inme-
diatamente a un médico.
Aclarar el radiador con agua limpia.
Montar los manguitos
lindro inferior y apretar a tope los abrazaderas.
Montar los tapones
Llenar el radiador hasta la boca con el líquido
de refrigeración establecido.
Aflojar los tapones de purga
bomba y del radiador para vaciar el aire.
Inclinar la motocicleta hacia la derecha para
que el aire atrapado salga.
Apretar los tapones de purga cuando el aire
haya salido y empiece a salir el líquido.
Tapón de purga del radiador:
2 – 3 Nm (0,2 – 0,3 kgm)
Tapón de purga de la bomba:
8 – 12 Nm (0,8 – 1,2 kgm)
