II. RADIUS Message Structure
The RADIUS message structure is shown in
Figure 5-2 RADIUS message structure
Code: refers to the message type, such as an access request, access permit and
accounting request.
Identifier: specifies the numbers in ascending sequence, used for matching the
request packets or response packets.
Length: refers to the total length of all fields.
Authenticator: is used to authenticate the validity of RADIUS.
Attributes: specifies the contents of a message, including various attributes relative to
the user.
III. RADIUS Features
The RADIUS is widely used for:
Good realtime performance by using UDP as the transport protocol.
High reliability by supporting retransmission mechanism and backup server
mechanism.
It is easy to implement and adapts to the multithreading structure of the server when
there are a large number of users.
As the client of the RADIUS protocol, the BAS implements the following functions:
Standard RADIUS protocol and extended attributes
It includes RFC2865 and RFC2866.
Extended RADIUS+1.1 protocol of Huawei-3Com
Active detection about the RADIUS server state
