4.15 Blocking device, pilot line

FIGURE 4-28: Disable device MX, complete
The blocking device is a non-electrical disable device for disabling fire extinguishing systems.
It prevents the extinguishing agent from flowing out into the extinguishing zone.
If it is necessary to carry out repair or servicing work in the protection zone that could lead to
the accidental activation of the fire extinguishing system or prevent exit from the rooms
within the pre-warning time, the fire extinguishing system must be blocked.
The ball valve makes it possible to shut off the pilot line. At the same time, the shut-off vents
the onward pilot line to prevent an accidental pressure increase due to leakage.
A limit switch can be installed to monitor the quiescent and blocked states (not included in
the scope of delivery).

4.16 Downstream pipework

For the downstream pipework, pipes and fittings with a suitable pressure rating, made from a
suitable material, and so on, must be used. They are defined for the various standards, such as
those of DIN, EN and ANSI (American National Standards Institute), in their respective applica-
ble provisions.
