Coat with hot bolt paste -G 052 112 A3-.
Align exhaust system free of stress
Install front exhaust pipe

Replacing front or rear silencer

Special tools, test equipment as well as aids required
t
Torque wrench 5 to 50 Nm (e.g. -V.A.G 1331-)
t
Body saw (e.g. -V.A.G 1523-)
A separation point is provided for repair purposes for replacing the front silencer or rear
silencer.
Separate exhaust pipe at right angles at
the separation point -arrow 2- with body
saw (e.g. -V.A.G 1523 -).
When installing clamping sleeve -4-
position on the side markings -arrows 1
and 3-.
Align exhaust system free of stress
Chapter.
Align rear silencer horizontally.
Tighten bolted connections of clamping
sleeve evenly to 40 Nm.
Installation position of clamping sleeve:
horizontal in vehicle, bolted connections
pointing forward.

Aligning exhaust system free of stress

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t
Torque wrench 5 to 50 Nm (e.g. -V.A.G 1331-)
Procedure

The exhaust system is aligned when cold.
