Symptom:
*SEATBELT INDICATOR PROBLEM
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER - SEATBELT INDICATOR SHORTED
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SEATBELT INDICATOR OPEN
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SEATBELT INDICATOR PROBLEM
SEATBELT SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT OPEN
SEATBELT SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
SEATBELT SWITCH OPEN
SEATBELT SWITCH SHORTED
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER - SEATBELT SWITCH OPEN
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER - SEATBELT SWITCH SHORTED
TEST

Cycle the ignition switch off then on and observe the Seatbelt Indicator.
With the ignition on, fasten the Driver Seatbelt.
Unfasten the Driver Seatbelt.
Select the problem with the seatbelt indicator you observed.
Indicator never came on
Indicator stays on w/belt buckled
Indicator inoperative w/belt unbuckled

Fasten the Driver Seatbelt
With the DRBIII , read the DRV SEAT BELT SW: status.
Does the DRBIII display OPEN?
Yes → Replace the Instrument Cluster.
→ Go To 3
No

Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Instrument Cluster.
Disconnect the Seatbelt Switch connector.
Measure the resistance of the Seatbnelt Switch Sense circuit to ground in the
Instrument Cluster C1 connector.
Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?
Yes → Repair the Seatbelt Switch Sense circuit for a short to ground.
→ Go To 4
No
POSSIBLE CAUSES
ACTION
Replace the Instrument Cluster - Seatbelt LED open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Go To 2
Go To 6
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
