BRAKES (CAB)
RIGHT REAR SENSOR SIGNAL FAILURE —
TEST

Turn ignition off.
Inspect the Tone Wheel for damaged or missing teeth.
Note: The Tone Wheel Teeth should be perfectly square, not bent or nicked.
Is the Tone Wheel OK?
Yes → Go To 4
→ Replace the Tone Wheel.
No

Turn ignition off.
Inspect the Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor and Connector.
Is the Sensor or Connector Damaged?
Yes → Repair as necessary.
→ Go To 5
No

Turn ignition off.
Inspect the wheel bearings for excessive runout or clearance.
Note: Refer to the appropriate service information, if necessary, for proce-
dures or specifications.
Is the bearing clearance OK?
Yes → Go To 6
→ Repair as necessary.
No

Turn ignition off.
Using a Feeler Gauge, measure the Sensor Air Gap.
Note: The Air Gap should be checked in at least Four places on the Tone
Wheel.
Is the Air Gap between 0.50 mm - 1.25 mm (0.019 - 0.049 )?
Yes → Go To 7
→ Repair as necessary.
No

Turn ignition off.
Disconnect the Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Connector.
Note: Check connector - Clean/repair as necessary.
Connect a single jumper wire from the harness side of Right Rear Wheel Speed
Sensor 12 Volt Supply circuit into the Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor connector
mating terminal.
Using a voltmeter in Direct Current (DC) mode, probe the Right Rear Wheel Speed
Sensor Signal circuit at Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor connector.
Turn ignition on.
Slowly rotate the wheel while observing voltmeter reading.
Does the voltage change from approximately 1.6 volts to 0.8 volts as the wheel is
rotated?
Yes → Go To 8
→ Replace the Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor.
No
ACTION
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
