Symptom:
*COURTESY LAMPS TOTALLY INOPERATIVE
FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT OPEN
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DEFECTIVE - COURTESY LAMP OPEN
COURTESY LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN
TEST
1 Remove the dome lamp lens.
Remove and ensure the bulb is good.
Measure the voltage of the Fused B(+) circuit in the bulb socket.
Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
Yes → Go To 2
→ Repair the open Fused B(+) circuit.
No
Note: Reinstall the dome lamp bulb.
2 Disconnect the Instrument Cluster.
Connect a jumper wire between Courtesy lamp Driver circuit and ground and observe
the dome lamp.
Did the dome lamp illuminate?
Yes → Replace the Instrument Cluster.
→ Go To 3
No
3 Remove the dome lamp lens.
Remove the dome lamp bulb.
Disconnect the Instrument Cluster.
Connect a jumper wire between Courtesy lamp Driver circuit in the Instrument
Cluster connector and ground.
Measure the resistance of the Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit in the Dome Lamp
Socket.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Test Complete.
→ Repair the open Courtesy Lamp Driver Circuit.
No
