Symptom:
*LIFTGATE FAILS TO LOCK OR UNLOCK
OPEN LIFTGATE LOCK MOTOR
OPEN LIFTGATE DOOR LOCK DRIVER WIRE
LIFTGATE DOOR UNLOCK DRIVER WIRE OPEN
TEST
1 Remove the liftgate trim panel to gain access to the Door Lock Motor connector.
Disconnect the Door Lock Motor connector.
Connect a test light between the Door Lock Driver and the Door Unlock Driver
terminals in the door lock motor connector.
Press the door lock switch to the Lock and Unlock positions.
Did the test light illuminate when the lock switch was pressed in both directions?
Yes → Replace the Liftgate Lock Motor.
→ Go To 2
No
2 Remove the liftgate trim panel to gain access to the Door Lock Motor connector.
Disconnect the Liftgate Lock Motor connector.
Using a 12-volt Test Light connected to ground, check the Door Lock Driver circuit in
the Liftgate Lock Motor connector..
With the DRBIII , actuate the Door Lock Relay and observe the test light.
Does the test light flash during actuation?
Yes → Go To 3
→ Repair the open Door Lock Driver wire.
No
3 Remove the liftgate trim panel to gain access to the Liftgater Lock Motor connector.
Disconnect the Liftgate Lock Motor connector.
Using a 12-volt Test Light connected to ground, check the Door Unlock Driver circuit
in the Liftgate Lock Motor connector..
With the DRBIII , actuate the Door Unlock Relay and observe the test light.
Does the test light flash during actuation?
Yes → Test Complete.
→ Repair the open Door Unlock Driver wire.
No
