*RED BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR NOT OPERATING PROPERLY —

Ensure the Park Brake is not engaged.
With the DRBIII , read the PARK BRAKE SW status.
Does the DRBIII display CLOSED?
Yes → Go To 9
→ Go To 12
No

Turn ignition off.
Gain access to and disconnect the Park Brake Switch connector.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , read the PARK BRAKE SW status.
Does the DRBIII display OPEN?
Yes → Replace the Park Brake Switch.
→ Go To 10
No

Turn ignition off.
Gain access to and disconnect the Park Brake Switch connector.
Remove the Instrument Cluster.
Measure the resistance of the Red Brake Warning Indicator Driver circuit from the
Park Brake Switch connector to a know good ground.
Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?
Yes → Repair the Red Brake Warning Indicator Driver circuit for an
→ Go To 11
No

If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
Repair

Disconnect the Brake Brake Fluid Level Switch connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Did the Red Brake Warning Indicator go out?
Yes → Replace the Brake Fluid Level Switch.
→ Go To 13
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Brake Warning Indicator Switch from the brake fluid reservoir.
Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module C2 connector.
Measure the resistance of the Red Brake Warning Indicator Driver circuit to ground.
Is the resistance below 1000.0 (1K) ohms?
Yes → Repair the Red Brake Warning Indicator Driver circuit for a short
→ Go To 14
No

Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
