Diagnostic Procedure without Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)

CHECK BODY INTEGRATED UNIT.
1) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2) Shift and hold the select lever to up side.
3) Read the data of up-shift switch using Sub-
aru Select Monitor. <Ref. to LAN(diag)-14,
OPERATION, Subaru Select Monitor.>

CHECK BODY INTEGRATED UNIT.
Check the DTC of body integrated unit. <Ref.
to LAN(diag)-14, OPERATION, Subaru Select
Monitor.>

CHECK SPORT SHIFT SWITCH GROUND
CIRCUIT.
1) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
2) Disconnect the connector from SPORT
shift switch.
3) Measure the resistance of harness
between SPORT shift switch connector and
chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(B116) No. 6 — Chassis ground:

CHECK SPORT SHIFT SWITCH.
Measure the resistance between SPORT shift
switch terminals.
Connector & terminal
(B116) No. 6 — No. 5:

CHECK SPORT SHIFT SWITCH.
1) Shift and hold the select lever to up side.
2) Measure the resistance between SPORT
shift switch terminals.

CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN
BODY INTEGRATED UNIT AND SPORT
SHIFT SWITCH.
1) Disconnect the connector from body inte-
grated unit.
2) Measure the resistance of harness
between body integrated unit and SPORT shift
switch connector.

(B116) No. 5 — (B281) No. 15:

CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN
TCM AND SPORT SHIFT SWITCH.
Measure the resistance of harness between
SPORT shift switch connector and chassis
ground.
Connector & terminal
(B116) No. 5 — Chassis ground:

CHECK INPUT SIGNAL TO BODY INTE-
GRATED UNIT.
1) Connect all the connectors.
2) Turn the ignition switch to ON (engine
OFF).
3) Check the signal voltage for body inte-
grated unit.

(B281) No. 15 (+) — Chassis ground (
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (DIAGNOSTICS)

Is ON displayed?
Is DTC of CAN communication
displayed?
Is the resistance less than 1

Is the resistance more than 1

Is the resistance less than 1

Is the resistance more than 1

Is the voltage 1.5 — 8 V?

nector and TCM
connector, or poor
contact in cou-
pling connector.

Repair the short
circuit in harness
between SPORT
shift switch con-
nector and TCM
connector.
Go to step 11.
Replace the TCM.
