6. Check that the USB flash drive is mounted:
a. Press the MAIN button and navigate to USB Status and press the SEL
button.
b. A USB Status message is displayed. (If the USB flash drive successfully
mounted, you will also see the USB Unmount menu selection. Do not
unmount.)
c. Press the MAIN button again to dismiss this menu.
7. Press the CONFIG front panel button.
8. Navigate to Utilities > System Upgrade > Upgrade Options > USB
Upgrade.
NOTE.
If the instrument displays a message indicating that a USB device
containing firmware was not detected, make sure you have the correct directory
path on the USB device.
In some instances, you may need to use your PC to re-format the USB flash drive
and start the process again.
9. Press the SEL front panel button. This displays the System Software Upgrade
window.
10. Select Continue from the System Software Upgrade window and press SEL
to start the software upgrade.
WARNING. To prevent upgrade failure, do not remove the USB flash drive or
power off the instrument until the upgrade is complete. The instrument displays
messages indicating the upgrade status. The upgrade may take up to 12 minutes.
11. If the instrument did not reboot at the completion of the software upgrade,
remove and then reapply power to the instrument to cause it to reboot.
12. If this is the first time that the instrument is being upgraded to 3.X, a message
will appear stating that the software upgrade requires a second pass. Press
SEL to continue.
13. If the instrument did not reboot at the completion of the software upgrade,
remove and then reapply power to the instrument to cause it to reboot.
14. If you saw the message stating that the upgrade requires a second pass, after
the instrument finishes restarting repeat steps 7 through 11.
15. Press the MAIN button and navigate to USB Unmount and press the SEL
button. This electrically unmounts the flash drive and can safely be removed
from the instrument.
