7-78 Disassembly and Reassembly

Replacing the System Board

Perform the following steps to replace the system board.
1.
See the section "Preparing for Installation and Removal" described earlier to prepare.
2.
Unlock the front bezel with the security key, and remove the front bezel.
3.
Extend the server out of the rack.
4.
Remove the top cover.
5.
Remove the riser cards following procedures described earlier in this chapter.
6.
Remove the fan unit following procedures described earlier in this chapter.
7.
Tag and disconnect all cables from the system board.
8.
Loosen and remove the three screws securing the system board to the chassis.
Slide the system board towards the front of the chassis enough to clear the rear panel and lift the
system board out of the chassis. Set the system board down on a clean, static-free surface.
Reverse this procedure to install the replacement system board.
