Replacing the System Board

1. Power off the system and ensure it is disconnected from the AC power
source.
Your system weighs approximately 65 pounds (29.25 kg). If
your system contains numerous optional boards and
peripheral devices, it will weigh more. To avoid personal
injury, make sure you have someone help you lift or move
the system.
2. With the assistance of another person, remove the system from the system
rack and place it on a clean surface.
3. Remove the top cover as described earlier in this chapter.
4. Grasp each side of the frame of the PCI I/O board and pull upwards to
disconnect and remove it from the system board. See figure 4-54.
5. Tag and disconnect all power and signal cables connected to the system
board.
6. Remove the single thumbscrew located in the center of the system board.
