7-20 Disassembly and Reassembly
Replacing a Failing Power Supply Unit
Replace only a failing power supply unit.
IMPORTANT:
If one power supply unit fails and the server contains two power
NOTE:
supply units in a redundant configuration, the failing power supply unit
can be replaced with the system operating in the (power-on state). (If the
server is running in the redundant power configuration, skip Step 1 in the
following procedure.)
Shutdown the system, and press the POWER switch to turn off the power.

Locate the failing power supply unit by the AC POWER lamp on the rear of each power

supply unit. (The lamp of the failing power supply unit is amber.)
Hold and pull the handle of the failing power supply unit.

The power supply unit is unlocked.
Remove the power supply unit.

If operating the server with a single power supply unit without installing a new one,

install the cover you removed in step 4 of installation procedure.
IMPORTANT:
blank cover in the slot not containing a power supply unit.
Install the new power supply unit following Steps 5 to 9 of "Installation", and confirm

that the power supply unit is installed normally.
If one of the two power supply units of the server is replaced
NOTE:
while the power is on, the POWER lamp of the new power supply unit
goes on. (If it is replaced while the power is off, the lamp flashes. The
lamp goes on when the power is turned on.)
Do not remove a power supply unit operating normally.
