Installing and Configuring System Software

This section contains supplemental information for installing and configuring SCO
®
UNIX
OpenServer Release 5.0X Operating System.
Installing SCO OpenServer Rel. 5.0X Software
without a Disk Array Controller Installed
Note: This section assumes that you have properly completed
the hardware installation. If you have not done so, please refer to
the corresponding documentation and complete the hardware
installation before trying to proceed with driver installation.
Note: Read the Release Notes (packaged with your operating
system documentation) before starting the installation.
SCO installation instructions in the SCO UNIX OpenServer Rel. 5.0X Handbook
provide more extensive installation procedures. Chapter 2 of the SCO OpenServer
Rel. 5.0X Handbook Installation Guide includes an installation checklist to assist you
in installing or upgrading to SCO UNIX OpenServer 5.0X.
Once the installation is complete, including all additional options, such as
Symmetrical Multiprocessing (if required), the SCO Maintenance Supplement 505A
should be added. Installation of SCO Maint 505A involves using the software
manager and a set of four diskettes generated from the EXPRESSBUILDER CD.
1. Insert the SCO OpenServer
your system. You will see the following message:
SCO OpenServer™ Release 5.0X
Boot:
Type: defbootstr link= ad160
Press ENTER.
2. The installation continues until the system displays this message:
Please insert the fd(65) ad160 volume and press <Return> or 'q' to quit.
3. Insert the Adaptec Driver diskette (made from the EXPRESSBUILDER CD) into
the floppy drive and press ENTER.
4. The system continues until the system displays this message:
Please enter "r' if you wish to try replacement.
Type r and press ENTER.

Version 5.0X CD into the CD-ROM drive and boot
