Replacing the SCSI Backplane

Perform the following steps to replace the SCSI backplane.
1.
See the section "Preparing for Installation and Removal" described earlier to prepare.
2.
Unlock the front bezel with the security key, and remove the front bezel.
Extend the server out of the rack.
3.
Remove the top cover.
4.
Tag and remove all hard disk drives from the DEU drive bays.
5.
6.
Disconnect and tag all power and signal cables connected to the backplane.
7.
Remove the fan unit as described earlier in this chapter.
8.
Using a short stubby screwdriver, remove the four screws along the top of the SCSI
backplane that secure the backplane to the drive bay chassis. Refer to the illustration
below for the location of the four SCSI backplane mounting screws.
