Quantum Scalar i6000 User's Guide
The Active Vault feature allows you to keep tape cartridges vaulted
within a physical library, rather than having to move them to other
onsite or offsite locations. These cartridges are stored in an "Active
Vault" partition that is not managed by a host and contains no tape
drives. You can configure policies on standard partitions to export
cartridges directly to an Active Vault partition, or you can use an
external application to designate which Active Vault partition to move
tapes into. Additionally, Active Vault partitions can be enabled for EDLM
policies that provide for regularly timed media scan operations.
