Removing the Fuel Tank
Engine: Service and Repairs

1. Park the machine on a level surface, engage the parking brake, set the key
switch to the O
position and remove key from the switch.

2. Remove the hood.
3. Record fuel hose and evaporative control system hose and clamp
routing/location for installation purposes.
4. Close the fuel shutoff valve.
Note: Cover or plug disconnected hoses and fittings to prevent contamination
from entering the fuel system.
5. Disconnect the fuel supply vent hoses from the top of the fuel tank.
6. Clean up any spilled fuel.
7. Remove the fastener and clamp from the top of the fuel tank and lift the
fuel tank assembly from the machine.
8. Disassemble the fuel tank as necessary.
9. Check the fuel supply, vent fitting, and fuel gauge grommets for wear or
damage and replace if necessary.
10. Check the mounting bumper on the machine fender for wear or damage and
replace if necessary.
