Servicing the Front Wheels

3. Install the lower bearing cone and a new grease seal, then install the upper
bearing cone.
4. Fit the caster fork into the front axle and install the three (3) belleville washers
as shown.
5. Secure the caster fork in the front axle with the lock nut. Tighten the lock nut
until 7 to 8 N·m (65 to 75 in-lb) is required to rotate the caster fork in the axle.
6. Install the grease cap so the lip is tight against the axle, but not pressed
hard enough to visibly indent the cap.
7. Secure the wheel in the caster fork with the previously removed fasteners.
Tighten the lock nut until the wheel no longer spins freely, then back it off just
until the wheel spins freely and the exposed outer spacers are tight.
8. Pump No. 2 lithium grease into the wheel hub and caster fork grease fittings.
9. Check and adjust the front tire pressure before returning the machine to
service; refer to

1. Remove the front wheel from the caster fork; refer to
Wheel and Caster Fork (page
2. Remove the spacers, seals and bearings from the wheel assembly. Discard
the seals.
3. Clean and inspect the bearings and spacers for wear or damage and replace
as necessary.
4. If previously removed, press new bearing cups all the way into the wheel hub.
5. Pack the bearing cones with No. 2 lithium grease.
6. Install the bearing cones and new grease seals.
