Starting Problems (continued)
Problem
Nothing happens when you attempt to
start the engine using the key switch.

Possible Cause
The traction control bars are not in the
N
position.
EUTRAL
the operator platform is not fully
released.
The parking brake is not fully engaged.
The battery is discharged or damaged.
The battery cables are loose or
corroded.
The ground connection is loose or
corroded.
A fuse is damaged.
A relay is damaged.
The key switch is damaged.
The fusible link is damaged.
The wiring to the start circuit
components is corroded, loose, or
damaged.
The wiring at the starter motor is
damaged.
The starter solenoid or starter motor is
damaged.

Corrective Action
Inspect the traction control operation.
Test the traction control switch(es)
and replace if necessary; refer to
Component Testing in Chapter 5 –
Electrical System.
Inspect the operator platform operation.
Test the operator platform switch
and replace if necessary; refer to
Component Testing in Chapter 5 –
Electrical System.
Inspect the parking brake operation.
Test the parking brake switch
and replace if necessary; refer to
Component Testing in Chapter 5 –
Electrical System.
Charge and test the battery.
Replace the battery if necessary.
Clean and secure the battery cables.
Clean and secure the ground
connections at the engine block.
Test the fuse F2 (10A) or F3 (15A) and
replace it if necessary; refer to Fuses in
Chapter 5 – Electrical System.
Test the start relay and neutral relay
and replace them if necessary; refer
to Component Testing in Chapter 5 –
Electrical System.
Test the key switch and replace it if
necessary; refer to Component Testing
in Chapter 5 – Electrical System.
Test the fusible link and replace it if
necessary; refer to Component Testing
in Chapter 5 – Electrical System.
Clean, secure or repair/replace the
circuit wiring; Refer to the Electrical
Schematics in Appendix A.
Test the circuit wiring and replace it as
necessary.

Service Manual for starter solenoid and
starter motor information.
