Removing and Installing the Front Axle

1. Raise the front of the machine; refer to
2. Remove the front wheels and caster forks; refer to
Wheel and Caster Fork (page
3. Remove the lock nut and thrust washer from the axle pivot pin.
4. Support the axle and remove the pivot pin and thrust washers, then remove
the axle from the machine.
5. Inspect the axle bushings for wear or damage and replace as necessary.
Press new bushings flush with the ends of the axle pivot hub.
6. Fit the axle into the machine and install the thrust washers and pivot pin.
Note: Install additional thrust washers to eliminate play if necessary.
7. Install the thrust washer and pivot pin lock nut. Tighten the nut from 129 to
155 N·m (95 to 115 ft-lb).
8. Install the caster forks and front wheels; refer to

9. Pump No. 2 lithium grease into the axle pivot hub grease fitting.
