NauticaRS 5.5R Reference Guide
OSPF Address Ranges
18-10
Address ranges represent the addresses available in each area.
This information is broadcast by each ABR to its neighbours.
These summary tables are in turn broadcast to Area 0. Area 0, the
backbone, knows the address ranges of all the areas, but the areas
themselves only need to know the address ranges of the areas they
border. This cuts down on the amount of information passed
around the network.
Address ranges are learned automatically, but you can set up
entries manually.
To view existing address ranges use the ls -l command at the
ospf# object prompt.
To create an address range, use the following syntax:
[co] [ip] [os] add ipaddr/masklen
Where co takes BCC into config mode (if it is not already there),
ip takes you to the IP context (if it is not already there), os moves
the router to the ospf# object (if it is not already there), add sets
up the address range, ipaddr is the IP address and masklen is the
mask applied to the IP address.
After you have entered the address range, the prompt moves into
the configured object. Typing i at the prompt lists the parameters
for the range.
In the table below, click on the parameter for which you require
further assistance.
